Ask HN: Why is OpenAI pivoting to social networks?
According to The Verge, OpenAI is building a new social network:

This seems a quite unusual decision for an AI company, specially given that they just closed a $40b funding round.
I would happily pay them to link me up with people who have chat histories similar to mine (as in working on or curious about similar problems).
Lots of time and energy goes in finding the right people, creating the right groups, maintaining the groups, expanding the groups etc.
Everything is based on Networking and Broadcasting which is really such an inefficient process cause you have spend a whole lot of time weeding out false signalling thats going 24x7.
Hypothesis: Elon created Grok to get up in Altman's chicken, so turnabout is fair-play.

Umm, what does it mean to "get up in [someone's] chicken"? Etymology possibly?
Perhaps a local idiom to my area, not sure. It means getting into someones "business", in the same sense as "mind your own business". If you're getting up into my chicken, then you're sticking your nose into my business.
